First stop in our Q&A series with stylish mums from around the world is with Lissa Kobak- from the vibrant city of Miami.
When most of us think of Miami- beaches, cocktails and dancing spring to mind.
However it’s also a beautiful city for families to visit- especially when a local mum shares her amazing tips on things to do and places to see.
Lissa is a gorgeous mother of two, who loves her home town.
Today she reveals her fave spots that will leave mum, dad and little ones longing for a trip to this gorgeous part of the world.
ML&S: Please give us a brief on your life in Miami?
Lissa: I am a stay home mum to my two daughters- Sianna, 6 years old and Sabina, 4 years old. I have an Instagram page @lk_mom2ss. My daughters model for a few IG shops- so expect to find a lot of their pictures with outfit details.
ML&S: What do you love most about living in Miami?
Lissa: Definitely the weather- it’s summer all year round.
ML&S: Favourite park in your city?
Lissa: Our fave with the kids is David T Kennedy in Coconut Grove- you get an amazing view of the bay, there’s a dog park, huge playground and lots of green space for a picnic.
ML&S: Where do you shop for your girls?
Lissa: I prefer doing 90% of my shopping online as I love the variety, otherwise I usually go to Zara in Dadeland Mall and H&M and JCrew in Aventura Mall.
ML&S: For yourself?
Lissa: I also shop at Zara, Express and Aldo.
ML&S: Where can you grab a great coffee?
Lissa: There are thousands of cafes in Miami and you can have a decent coffee in any of them- but you would have to ask for a Colada or a Cortadito- it’s Cuban coffee and it’s amazing.
ML&S: On weekends we would find you?
Lissa: At the beach, parks and we do lots of outdoor activities with our girls.
ML&S: A lovely place for brunch?
Lissa: Is Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink- everything is made with fresh organic ingredients from local farmers, fisherman, ranchers and artisans. My personal favourite is the Breakfast Pizza.
ML&S: Best restaurant in town?
Lissa: Barceloneta in South Miami, it’s Spanish cuisine- not a typical place to take your kids but my girls also love it. My 4 years old’s favourite dish is the Ham Croquetas and Sianna absolutely loves the Grilled Octopus. Everything is delicious, the décor is fantastic and the service is always friendly. I recommend it for a date, business meeting or even time out for yourself.
ML&S: To get a luscious cocktail head to?
Lissa: Brickell- there’s lots of great places to grab a drink without Miami’s noise and crowds.
ML&S: Never leave Miami until?
Lissa: You have tried a Cuban sandwich.
ML&S: Beach of your choice with kids?
Lissa: When you think of Miami, the first thing that comes to mind is Miami Beach. Not very kid friendly- unless you like overcrowded places. We prefer Crandon Park and Virginia Key Park. Crandon Park is located on an island (Key Biscayne) of all places. It has shelters for parties, BBQ areas with tables, playground with a carousel and the most tranquil, calm, soft white sand beach surrounded by palm trees.
Virginia Key Park is also located in Key Biscayne. What I like most about this beach is that it has tables and picnic areas right on the beach, so you can enjoy some food while watching the kids swim.
ML&S: Your top 3 areas in Miami?
Lissa: Key Biscayne, the Design District and Villa Vizcaya.
ML&S: Where do you go for weekend getaways?
Lissa: Florida Keys- it’s about a 2 hour drive from Miami- but worth it. What can be a better getaway than going to an island?
