Tween rooms may be the hardest to decorate, as growing children have changing tastes and they are very much in a “no-longer-a-kid-but-not-yet-a-teenager” stage of their life.

Today in Part 3- Tween Room Designs- Svjetlana Miskovic, creative director from Little Interiors shares her amazing and helpful tips on finding a fabulous design- to ensure your tween is happy with their new space.

Boys Room:
The theme behind this room is modern, simple and industrial. The client’s previous room had the same colour scheme, so some items were reused by Svjetlana. When it came to new decor, she introduced some industrial looking pieces such as the bed by Domayne, chest of drawers from IKEA and an acapulco chair. Finishing touches included an enlarged street map, wire baskets and the ever- so- popular stag head.

Girls Room:
The theme behind this room was to create something that was simple- yet not too girly. Svjetlana decided to go with non-traditional colours to create this space. The gold toned bed was the main piece and the rest of the decor was chosen around that. The end product is a room that can be used during teenage years, with the addition of a few new decorations.

Svjetlana’s tips for creating a cool tween room:

1. “Same as any other room, keep the foundation simple- white and bright walls, plain and easy to clean floors.”
2. “Always opt for a good, simple styled bed.”
3. “Go crazy and big with art, posters and any wall pieces.”
4. “Use as much storage as you can, so it’s easy to keep clean.”
5. “Let your tween help, after all it’s their room.”
